Audio input test

A browser-only audio test tool for checking your microphone input and BGM mix before entering a ROOM. Without going through Daily, it grabs the same microphone input device you use in ROOM, so you can check levels and record/play back directly.

How to use

  1. 1.Play your BGM in OBS and route it, together with your microphone, into a virtual audio device (BlackHole 2ch / CABLE Input) (see the OBS setup guide)
  2. 2.Click "Allow microphone access" in the test tool below
  3. 3.Switch the input device to the one you use in ROOM, such as BlackHole 2ch / CABLE Output
  4. 4.Adjust the balance of your voice and BGM while watching the level meter
  5. 5.Record 10 seconds, play it back, and check by ear over headphones what your listeners will hear

Test tool

Press "Allow microphone access" to start the test. If you have already set up OBS, select your virtual audio device (BlackHole / CABLE Output, etc.) from the list shown after granting access.

Differences from a real session

This tool captures audio in the browser only, without going through Daily (ROOM's communication platform), so in a real session Daily's noise suppression and similar processing may additionally apply. It can detect most common problems in advance — whether the microphone is picking up sound, whether your voice is buried under the BGM, whether echo is present — but if you need a final check, open an actual ROOM and confirm there.

Check with headphones

If you keep recording while playing through speakers, the microphone re-records the playback and the check becomes inaccurate. Do the record-and-playback check with headphones.
