When ROOM does not detect your camera or microphone
This page covers what to do when the ROOM screen says "Access to your camera and microphone is not allowed" or the preview video never appears.
If you are about to go live and short on time, start with "3 things to try first".

3 things to try first
Try them in this order
Re-select your camera and microphone from "Settings" on the ROOM screen
Open the gear icon (device settings) at the bottom of the ROOM screen and re-select the camera and microphone you want to use. Right after connecting new gear or launching streaming software, the selected device can end up wrong.

Close other apps and other browser tabs
Force-reload the page
Check your streaming gear
If you use a USB microphone, an external camera, or an audio interface, the problem may be on the equipment side.
Unplug and replug USB devices / try another port
Check the power and connection of your audio interface
If you use the OBS virtual camera
Update your microphone / camera drivers
If you use a Bluetooth headset or earphones
Bluetooth devices switch between a "playback (music)" mode and a "call (microphone)" mode, so the browser may fail to open them as a microphone and block you from joining, or the audio quality may become unstable.
Disconnect once and check whether you can join with the built-in microphone
Check whether another app is using the headset
Re-select the microphone in ROOM's "Settings"
If the audio cuts out, suspect 2.4 GHz radio interference
For the most stable calls
Check browser permissions
Make sure your browser allows V-tamp to use your camera and microphone.
Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge

- Click the site information icon at the left of the address bar (the lock icon or the three-line icon)
- Check that camera and microphone show blue toggles (allowed), as in the image above
- If unsure, click the "Reset permissions" button, reload the page, and choose "Allow" in the dialog that reappears
- If it still does not improve, open the browser's Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Camera / Microphone, and check that ec.v-tamp.com is not in the "Blocked" list
Safari(macOS)
- Open "Safari" → "Settings" → "Websites" from the menu bar
- Select "Camera" and "Microphone" in the list on the left, and set the V-tamp domain to "Allow"
- After changing the settings, quit Safari completely and restart it
About incognito mode / private windows
Check your computer's system settings
Even if the browser permission is fine, the camera and microphone will not work if Windows or macOS blocks them at the system level. This is the most common cause among artists using Windows.
On Windows
The most commonly overlooked setting
- Open Start menu → "Settings" → "Privacy & security" → "Camera"
- Check that all three of the following are on:
- Camera access (for the whole PC)
- Let apps access your camera
- Let desktop apps access your camera
- Do the same for "Microphone" and turn all three items on
- Quit the browser completely and reopen it (also close any icons in the taskbar or system tray)
On macOS
- Open Apple menu → "System Settings" → "Privacy & Security"
- Open "Camera" and "Microphone" and check that the switch for your browser (Chrome / Edge / Safari, etc.) is on
- After changing the settings, quit the browser completely and restart it
Security software & extensions
Webcam protection features in security software
Add an exception in your security software
Temporarily disable browser extensions
Using a smartphone
iPhone / iPad
- In the "Settings" app → "Safari", set "Camera" and "Microphone" to "Ask" or "Allow"
- If you use Chrome, go to "Settings" → "Chrome" and turn the camera and microphone on
- Focus mode or parental restrictions set on a child's account can also interfere
Android
- Go to "Settings" → "Apps" → your browser → "Permissions" and check that camera and microphone are set to "Allow"
- If your device maker has its own "privacy protection mode" or "disable camera" feature, turn it OFF
